Inspirations
Allen was fortunate enough to be raised near his grandfather, Adam Galuza, who was a blacksmith, lumberjack, woodworker and engineer. Allen would often visit his grandfather’s farm and watch him make the tools he needed out of necessity, like buckets, nails and hinges, etc. Allen’s family has always treasured the many whimsical creatures that Adam made for them, which they still enjoy to this day. Allen has continued in his grandfather's footsteps with his own form of creativity.
Allen has also gathers his inspiration from nature, which is also like a museum to him as well.
The human body fascinates him and he finds creative ways to incorporate castings of body parts with elements of nature, resulting in fine bronze sculpture masterpieces. Allen's creative inspirations never sleep. He sees beauty in unusual objects such as old farm equipment, tools, cars, bikes and other discarded metal objects from which he creates beautiful works of art such as crabs, birds and sea turtles. He enjoys driving down Maine country roads searching for just the right piece of rusty metal, or the next inspiration from nature, and has an uncanny ability to blend the two in a meaningful way. He gravitates toward objects that find their natural patina which give his art a relaxed feeling, like a fine wine aged over time.
While scenery and objects found are a large part of Allen's creation process, he also draws much of his inspiration from his dream state. He often wakes up with ideas or solutions that take his creation to a another level. Allen likes to work in many different mediums.....
